The hair is taken down to skin at the bottom and blended gradually up into the length on top, so there is no visible step between the two. A skin taper does the same thing but only around the edges, the sideburns and the neckline, leaving more weight through the sides.
The difference between a good fade and a bad one is the blend. That means working through the guard lengths properly rather than jumping between them, and checking the shape from every angle before we call it finished.

A skin fade works with most hair types, including thick and curly hair. If your hair is thinning through the crown, a fade can actually help, because reducing the weight at the sides makes the top look fuller by contrast.
It is a sharp, clean look that suits work as easily as a night out. If you want something lower maintenance, a taper gives you a similar shape that grows out more gently.
How it grows out
A skin fade is at its sharpest for the first week to ten days. Most people come back every two to three weeks to keep it tight, or every four if they are happy for it to soften.
We cut with your hair growth in mind, so the shape holds as it grows rather than collapsing after a few days. If you want it to last longer between visits, ask for it slightly higher and we will set it up so the grow-out stays tidy.
